Alsager Cenus 1911

I'm trying to find if there was family with the surname of HART living in the above town on this census. There could be a son Thomas. This is to do with identifying the names on the Town War Memorial and so far people have drawn a blank as to if the person concerned actually came from the town. I've checked CWGC and no town is given on their site. Many thanks. Brian

I've had a look for you and there does not appear to be anyone with the surname Hart in Alsager in 1911. I even tried Harte to no avail.

Thanks for that, it now means that we shall have to consider small villages that surround the area and it could be quite a few - back to the drawing board as they say.

Hi Brian
I have had the same problem, with our local war memorial I have had to search all of Lancashire for the given name, as people moved around for work, and if I find a good match then check all the family of that name, to see if any of the younger children where born in the area you are looking for.
They may have been born 1902-1910 and missed the census.
And relatives who maybe still in the area, may have put their name forward.

Does the CWGC citation gives the names of his parents?

I'm very grateful for the support, these are the details I've taken from the CWGC website:-

Private Peter Hart, 14325789 7th Battalion Oxford & Bucks Light Infantry who died on 27 September 1944 aged 20. Son of Thomas and Ivy Sarah Ellen Hart.
There are only four persons listed on CWGC with the surname Hart and Initial P, of which this is the only without the area the parents lived.

One of the major stumbling blocks is the fact that many records were destroyed during the Blitz in WWII and this has affected the research for WWI names.

Thanks folks, based on your information, it looks as if this Peter Hart may not be relevant to the local War Memorial, however, as I know from my own War Memorial back home in the Rhondda, some names were omitted for a variety of reasons and it has taken such research for these to be corrected, usually after a lot of campaigning with local authorities. Apologies, my brain not quite in gear these days. Is Peter Hart using his mother's maiden name as a middle name? However, as it looks very likely his parents fit the details on WGC, would I be right in assuming that there is a possibility the family moved to Alsager which was (and still is) the town where there was an ammunition factory during WWII, and therefore could be on electoral rolls? It's not beyond imagination that his father came to the town for work- or is mother.
