John LANE & Sarah Ann
Batch C027923

John left England without Sarah and arrived in NSW in 1856. He remarried in NSW in 1858 so death for Sarah expected in England 1852 - 1856.
The marriage of Amelia Ann Lane to George Rider gives Amelia's father as John Lane Ironmonger. Bit of a comedown for a Dentist.
Sarah Lane didn't die in the 1850s. Instead she married a Charles Washingon in Liverpool 23 May 1859 stating that she was a widow called Sarah Smith. Her father is down as Samuel Dodd, Butcher

Sarah Washington death Mar 1889 Chester 8a 291 aged 61
Kate Smith Dec 1857 Gt Boughton 8a 326 mmn Dodd (down on the GRO site as Hate Smith)

Kate appears in the 1861 Census with Charles Washington and Sarah listed as Stepdaughter and in the 1871 Census as Kate Washington daughter.

I can only find one marriage for a Sarah Lane to a Smith and that is to a George Reid Smith in Liverpool 1854. She is down as a spinster and gives her father as William Lane, Ironmonger. I can't find a death for George that I am certain of.
