Ancestor gravestones.

Hi

I have found several gravestones of my ancestors which have been very handy in finding their death certificate or their will. Sometimes even dates of births are listed.

And I like to peaceful location of ancestor gravestones in rural churchyards.

Apparently my great,great granny had massive teeth.

One ancestors grave i was able to go and see was hubby's great grandfathers. He had no headstone but all his in laws who were buried next to and around him and they all had nice big headstones with all the info on them.

I found out the dates of deaths of many of my Suffolk and Sussex ancestors from gravestones alone. My 4xgreat grandmother Elizabeth Mayhew died in February 1891 in Hacheston, Suffolk and her husband William died 17 July 1892 in Wickham Market but is buried in Hacheston. In 1891 he was living on his own means. I still am curious enough to get the death certs to find out causes.

3 generations of my Sussex ancestors who lived from 1770 to 1876 have headstones. They died in 1845, 1853, 1854, 1860, 1864 and 1876. All their dates of deaths are on their gravestones.
