I have been using the 'freebie' for a while, and givng that it's free access to all UK & Ireland records.
Why can't I access records for Oxfordshire..

The last time I checked, Oxfordshire was still in the UK.......but perhaps the brexit vote has changed all that.:2fun:

I'll have to have a whinge at Anc. on FB.

No skin off, or on my nose as I already have a UK sub to Anc. :D

Wish I was a celeb so I could go on WDYTYA as even with a name like John Smith, they type the name in on Anc and the right one out of about 60'000 John Smith's turns up. :2fun:

You and me both, Benny!

I know I've said it before but what is it about "exact" that Anc doesn't understand. I can do a search for someone born in Lancashire and I get results for virtually every county but Lancashire. Doesn't seem to matter whether I click on exact or not, I never seem to find the person I'm after.

Only 60,000 John Smith's? There are so many David Evans's; Evan Evans's; William Davies's that crop up for me, it's why I've done very little for the last year - Anc includes places that my ancestors have never lived.

Actually 23'000'000 records for John Smith in the UK and Ireland on Anc. Many of those will include records for the same person but there was 24'000 in the 1911 census. Mum once joked that Elvis Presley would not be so famous if he was called John Smith. Ironically Smith his his mother's maiden name. And his 3xgreat grandad was John Smith. Go figure.

I am doing the Susan Riches conundrum and the 2 likeliest ones, one 1691 and one 1694 were first cousins. I just found out recently.

Well, it seems it's a glitch, and as it's a free weekend, they won't be looking into it.
Just as well I have the PR Transcripts for most of my Oxfordshire rellies. But it would have been nice to see the original records.:)
