Thanks Peter.

I'll see where that leads me. I think Ann was born Paisley and I don't have a sister Janet in my tree. There is about a 6 year gap between Catherine and Ann so I could be missing a Janet.

There are 17x BLACKLEY in Paisley in 1911 and I can account so far for only 5 of them. It's possible I'm missing some from my tree.

It's possible that Ann could be listed under another name and that in 1861 it's not indicated that she might be a half-sister of Catherine.

I'd like a look up please in Lanark and Renfrew only in 1851 for an Ann RAMSAY born 1843-1847 Renfrew.

Thanks,

Dave

FreeCEN does not have 100% coverage of either Renfrewshire or Lanarkshire in 1851.

Ann's marriage lists her parents as Robert RAMSAY - (I can't read his occupation) and Isabella M.S. McGuire.

Isabella's death lists her as widow of
1st John Blackley ** Possible death ** No age and no image **
2nd Francis Ramsay - Farmer

1864 BLACKLEY JOHN M PAISLEY MIDDLE CHURCH /RENFREW 573/3X 0015

Isabella's 2nd marriage can't be found.

Why does Ann called herself Blackley here:

Jane Beckett b. 4 Aug 1866 High Church Paisley, Renfrew
David Beckett & Ann Blackley

and after her marriage on 31 Dec 1866 to David Beckett call herself Ramsay?

James Beckett b. 18 Mar 1868 Bridgeton, Glasgow, Lanark
David Beckett & Ann Ramsay

Why would a 2nd spouse be listed if there was no 2nd marriage?

If the parents as listed on Ann's marriage are the correct ones why is there no birth reg for her?

I now have the images for those two and I can confirm Isabella is listed as Married not Widow and Ann is listed as BLACKLEY daughter 15 Renfrewshire, Paisley.
