With marriages to an Ann Fraser in 1845, 1849 and 1851 it's impossible to say from the index which is the right death for Ann hence don't know when Alexander shows in census as a widower.

If this is the right death - I'm not using any more credits on this one - then can Alexander be found in 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881.

He is a general labourer in the 1884 marriage of daughter Ann.
