I need some help with beginners geneology. I'm trying to verify details of my grandfather's grandmother and her possible parents. I have an Ancestry subscription and been looking up on FamilySearch as well, but I'm new to these.

Ann Moyse (also spelled Moyes, and Moise on an 1881 Canada census) was apparently born April 1st abt 1843 in Devon, England, but another listing in familysearch shows her, or another Ann Moyse, born/christened in Otterham, Cornwall. She emmigrated to Canada at some time, lived in Newcastle, Ontario Canada, died Jun 17 1907.

Is there any way of locating cause of death?

The 1881 or 1891 Canada census shows her mother, Mary Moyse, widow, living with her along with her husband John Cowling and their many children.

I found an Ann Moyse in the 1851 England census, 8 years old, her father, James Moyse, and her mother, Marianne Moyse. Living with them was apparently Marianne's mother, Mary Saunders, a 78 year old Pauper.

I need help verifying where Ann Moyse was born in England and who her parents were, as there seem to be multiple Ann Moyses her age! What they did for a living, where they lived in England, how they died, and when she emmigrated would be great.

My first post dissapeared.

Whoops! I should have been clearer:

Ann Moyse (Apr 1 1843-Jun. 17 1907)
Born: Devon or Cornwall.
She emmigrated to Canada at some point.
Spouse: John Cowling, year unknown also unknown if she married before or after she emmigrated to Canada.
Mother: A Mary Moyse shows up in, I believe, the 1881 Canada census as John Cowling's mother in law, widowed, but spouse unknown. I'm assuming Mary Moyse is Ann Moyse's mother.
Father: James Moyse? He shows up along with Ann Moyse (8) and Marianne Moyse (? I need to check again) in the England 1851 census. I'm not sure if it's them. Mary/Marianne's mother, Mary Saunders, was living with them in 1851.

Were James Moyse, and Mary/Marianne/Mary Ann Moyse (nee Saunders, the younger, not the pauper in the 1851 census) her parents? And from there, who were his? I'll take it from there.Just trying to verify as there seem to be a lot of Cowlings, Moyses, Marys and James!

Thank you for all your help.

In looking for Ontario Canada marriages there is a FREE site http://homepages.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~maryc/thisisit.htm that has transcriptions on and after 1869 when it was first required to register ALL birth, marriage & deaths. It was NOT complied with totally for a long time. The work on this site is compiled by volunteers and is not complete but at least is free. Easiest to use quotes around a name as in "Ann Moyse". saves hits for every Ann an every Moyse. by the way the quotation makrs also work well in any search engine. It replaces using their "advanced" function. It looks for ONLY that phrase. I often add a b to aviod getting hits for living people with that same name, as in "Ann Moyse b" this usually results in mostly genealogy sites.

I also have an Ann Moyse born in PEI in 1816 that married a William Dobson born 1796, and was also looking for her mother. this was one of the hits.
