I'd like a look up please for Annie aged 59 in 1891. Possibly back in Fife.

Thanks,

Dave

do you know her maiden name? There is a David in the records as having died between census. Can't find Annie and can't find remarriage for her before census either. Do you know she survived?

Hello Barbara,

Ann MOODIE born 14 Feb 1830 Dunfermline if another researcher is correct. That's one I don't have.

I think she should be 59 and in Elie and Earlsferry in 1891.

I think this is her death but I din't have a copy of it or the index entry. I have 6 credits left and already got 4 deaths on my list, 5 if I add this one  so I've not decided which one to get next.

Death 1911 ALLAN Ann (MOODIE) Dunfermline, Fife Age 81

Dave, there is another Ann born in Elie and in Elie with her father David Allan. She got me confused but she is in the census in Elie on her own and unmarried in 1891 so think that is the one with father David not husband David.

The death does look right for yours tho. Have you found her in 1900?

Will take another look.

Hello Barbara,

It looks the right death but I'm not at all positive about Elie.

One day I might decide which one gets the last 6 credits.

Thanks Geoff.

That seems to mean there are 2x Annie about the same age both born Fife, but the one I'm after was born Dunfermline.

Dave

That one was unmarried Geoff! and she is with her father in earlier census. Driving me crazy these two, I have tried searching just for their christian names and born Dunfermlie with 5 years either side of their birth year and still can't find them.

Hi Barbara

Yeah, because there doesn't appear to be anything thing else I wondered if it was an error in the POB. At least that one can be discounted.

Dave

This would tie in with the death for age

Ann Moodie
Birth Date: 14 Feb 1830
Birth Place: Dunfermline,Fife,Scotland
Father: James Moodie
Mother: Ann Keltie
FHL Film Number: 1040105

I checked out a couple of trees and they have her mother as Ann Fraser, can't find a birth with that combination yet

Geoff

Hello Geoff,

I have no idea how any tree author comes up with Ann FRASER. This is her marriage:

James MOODIE & Agnes KELTIE
8 May 1818 Saline, Fife,

and her death:

Death: 1859; Milesmark, Inverkeithing, Fife, Scotland; recorded at Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland; Ann Moodie; wife of an engineman; married; age 61; parents Adam Keltie, ship carpenter, deceased and Elizabeth Keltie M.S. Blair, deceased; abcess of kidney; buried at the burying ground, Dunfermline; witness Christina Moodie, daughter.

'James Mudie, workman in Carnock and Elisabeth Thomson his spouse had a son born upon the 2nd Nov. and baptized upon the 4th of said month in presence of the congregation, called James.'
c. 4 Nov 1792 Carnock, Fife

James MUDIE b. 2 November 1792 c. 4 November 1792 Carnock, Fife
James Mudie & Elizabeth Thomson

James MOODIE & Jane HUTTON
2 Dec 1859 Carnock, Fife

James also married (2) Jane Hutton, daughter of William Hutton and Susan Pye.
Marriage: 1859; Carnock, Fife, Scotland; according to the Forms of the Free Church of Scotland; age 60; residence at Elgin Colliery, Dunfermline; engine keeper; widower; parents James Moodie labourer, deceased and Elizabeth Moodie M.S. Thomson, deceased; witnesses Robert Condie and Thomas Brown.

The only slightly 'odd' thing is that the marriage has Agnes not Ann or Anne. I don't have baptism records for all 8 children but none have her name as Agnes.

Geoff, could you please check for a birth/baptism for these Moodie children:

James abt 1826 Dunfermline
Christian/Christina 4 May 1827 Dunfermline

Yeah, could well end up with being a matter of getting the name right or one they choose to use at the time
