Looks as though it's Annie M.

Births Sep Qtr 1847
Baker Anna Maria Tonbridge 5 482

I don't understand this one at all with Brede in Romney Marsh in Kent:

1851
Civil Parish: Brede ?
County: Kent ?
Registration District: Romney Marsh ?
Sub-RD: New Romney ?
Address: Brede Hill, Brede ?
BRAY, Edwin Head Mar M 40 Veterinary Surgeon Winchelsea Sussex
BRAY, Ann E Wife Mar F 31 Brede Sussex
BAKER, Ann Relative F 3 Tunbridge Wells Kent

Brede was in Rye until 1889 then in Battle, both RDs in Sussex.

Not worked it out yet, but this is interesting..

1871
Civil Parish: St Andrew
Ecclesiastical parish: St Andrew
County: Sussex
RD: Hastings
Sub-RD: St Mary in the Castle
ED: 6; RG10; Piece: 1031; Folio: 30; Page: 54

Edwin Bray 61 [b. Winchelsea, Vetinary Surgeon]
Ann Bray 52 [Wife, b. Brede]
Ann E Baker 26 [Sister, unm, b. Tonbidge, domestic servant]

If she was Tonbridge, it is a different town to TW.

Thanks Geoff.

That one is odd in that it has 'sister' and Tonbridge. Both errors probably.

The Tonbridge RD covers both and Speldhurst in between.

Charles TURNER & Mary WATERS
25 Dec 1819 Speldhurst, Kent

That's the Charles on my direct line with no baptism record. Speldhurst has always been a mystery because the family was from Brede and Mary was from Hastings.

Francis and Ann?
Francis and Elizabeth FAIRHALL.

I doubt we have 2x Charles & Mary WATERS and by the time children were baptised the family was in Maresfield.

There seems to be a Francis and Mary also with a son Charles baptised in Kent.

A nagging brick wall.

I'll be back in a few hours. I'm off to buy some more shrubs for the garden.

Almost correct. :2fun:

Son Charles born 1 Apr 1824 Maresfield I believe, although that is one Non-conformist baptism I don't yet have.

Died 8 Nov 1906 Camden.

We have looked at Charles senoir before and given up with the trees saying he was born 17 Feb 1796 in Tonbridge or TW, Kent because both parents were buried in 1795 in Sussex.

Francis FURNER was buried at St George, Brede Sussex 16 Jan 1795

Elizabeth FURNER was buried at St George, Brede Sussex 6 April 1795

Just a note that most of the trees have the wrong Mary WATERS. I know from the baptism of some children what her parents names are and where she was born - James & Mary and Hastings. Good to have maternal grandparents named on baptism records.

I started this topic not really for my Charles but for Annie because of this record:

Baptism Records Tunbridge Wells Kent
Charles son of Francis and Mary FURNER baptised 24th May 1795

I keep wondering if we have 2x Charles & Mary WATERS and if the marriage in Speldhurst is not my Charles.

We know that Mary, older sister of my Charles was baptised in Brede and that children of my Charles were baptised in Maresfield.

Tonbridge and TW and Speldhurst just seem as if they would fit another family.

This looks like Annie in 1901..

Civil Parish: St Mary Magdalene
Ecclesiastical parish: Christchurch
County: Sussex
Registration District: Hastings
Sub-registration District: St Mary Magdalen
ED: 9; RG13; Piece: 870; Folio: 72; Page: 36

Ann M Baker 54 [Single, b. Tunbridge Wells, Lodging House Keeper]
Augusta Garing 67 [Boarder, b. Washington, Sussex, living on own means, feeble minded]
Catharine M Maraman 30 [Single, b. Maidstone, Boarder, daughter's nurse & worker]
Ellen L Goodman 19 [Single, b. Herrold, Bed's. General servant, Daughter]

Some of the image is difficult to read, I can send a copy of the relevant bits if required.

This looks more approving in 1891..

Civil Parish: St Mary Magdalene
Ecclesiastical parish: Christchurch
Town: Hastings
County: Sussex
RD: Hastings
Sub-RD: St Mary in the Castle
ED: 22; RG12; Piece: 765; Folio: 5; Page: 3

Annie M Baker 40
Annie E Bray 71
Ellen Harrison 19
Mary A P Taylor 60
Annie Draper 63
Mary A Waudby 39
Cecil Waudby 11

Confirms Annie Bray also still around in 1891
