Several things not right. :biggrin:

Some trees have his death as 1850 (2nd Elizabeth a grocer and widow in same street in 1851) and other trees have his death in 1857.

One must have died before 1851 census:

There is an entry, an inventory, in the Wills & Testament section of Scotlands People for a James Flockheart, grocer from Alloa. A date is quoted of 4 June 1852.

The tree with 1857 death has his birth as Alloa but 1841 says the one I'm chasing was not born in county.

I say we have 2x James but that the one who married 2x Elizabeth was not born Alloa and died 1850 and merchant = grocer.

So there is one not connected to my tree who died in 1857.

One tree has him mar. to Eliz. Keltie in 1835, then to Eliz. Anderson in 1847...

The Bridge street one in 1851 is also older, with a different occupation. We need him in 1841. I had them all up in FreeCEN before.

I know we have been through the 4 marriages before but I received a bit of new info that made me return for another look at James.

Not sure why the 1852 date - perhaps it's an inventory and a list of creditors. It says 'grocer' so has to be the one who married 2x Elizabeth.

The tree has death of first Elizabeth as 1847 but last child born 1842 I'd say there is no death and that should read 'before 1847' ie. died before the marriage date.

The tree I'm looking at says she died before 1847, probably assuming that from the mar. in 1847..

The tree has parents as David Flockhart and Grizel Stewart.

So that does not fit naming pattern. The one who died 1857 may well have had parents David & Grizel but I'd say that does not fit the one who married 2x Elizabeth.


Another tree has Elizabeth K's parents as John KELTIE & Margaret HARVEY, which does fit better.

Most records have it as HERVEY.

The 1857 death in Alloa - age is recorded as 30.
