Hello crankypants,

Thanks.

Do we have something that proves the trees are correct? Such as parent and son together in E/R :D (unlikely) or ...

I'd better go get a copy of the death notice. :)

Ok, it took me ages to get the notice to come up. :D I'll accept that as proof. :)

Lionel was the first of 4 children.

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much.

1936 VIC Electoral Roll – Batman – Northcote
PEARCE Ethel Vivienne, 177 Fulham rd., home duties
PEARCE Louisa, 177 Fulham rd., home duties
Louisa died in Smiths Gully in 1947.

Please see if you can find Louisa in 1942. Thanks.

I'm having problems finding Smiths Gully in E/R in 1942. Of course Louisa may have moved from Northcote after 1942. ???

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Thank you very much. I doubt very much it's Ballarat for Louisa. And not Corio either.

DEATHS
PEARCE.-On August 10, at Goldmans rd., Smith's Gully, Louisa, wife of the late William A. Pearce, loving mother of Arthur and Ethel (Mrs. Griffiths), grandmother of Wilma, aged 77 years.

Arthur George PEARCE b. 1892 Northcote d. 1956 Hartwell ?

1914 VIC Electoral Roll – Bourke – Ivanhoe
PEARCE Arthur George, Maltravers rd., Ivanhoe, jeweller

1919 VIC Electoral Roll – Batman - Delbridge
PEARCE Arthur George, 179 McKean st., N. F., postal assistant

Hello crankypants,

The marriage was either and/or very late and/or in another state:

The Argus (Melbourne, Vic. : 1848-1954) - Saturday 30 August 1947 p.11
DEATHS
PEARCE.-On August 10, at Goldmans rd., Smith's Gully, Louisa, wife of the late William A. Pearce, loving mother of Arthur and Ethel (Mrs. Griffiths), grandmother of Wilma, aged 77 years.

1943-1954 Deakin

Hello crankypants,

There is another PEARCE family in Victoria. Another William Arthur PEARCE married in 1895 to Fanny.

1909 VIC Electoral Roll - Bourke - Preston
PEARCE Fanny, West street, Preston, home duties
PEARCE William Arthur, West street, Preston, letter carrier

I don't know if it's coincidence or not but Vivienne Ethel could be their daughter. Or perhaps the families are related in some way and the names come from a previous generation.

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Ok, thanks.

I can't find a tree with Ethel.

No sign of Ethel as GRIFFITHS in Springvale.

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Ethel was a Mrs GRIFFITHS in her mother's notice so I'd say that's probably her in Deakin. What's the cut-off date for the death index? I wonder if the 1962 death is correct and if she is still a GRIFFITHS.

And, where did I get 1962 from. :D

Regards,

Dave
