Hello,

name: Thomas Kilner
event: Census
event date: 1861
gender: Male
age: 44
relationship to head of household: Head
birthplace: Huddersfield, Yorkshire
record type: Household
registration district: Huddersfield
sub-district: 9 Huddersfield
ecclesiastical parish: Christchurch Woodhouse
civil parish: Huddersfield
county: Yorkshire (West Riding)

I'd like a look up please for this family in 1861 and a check if he can be found in 1871. I'm trying to see if this could be his death:

Deaths Jun 1863
Kilner Thomas Huddersfield 9a 222

It's possible this Thomas is an engine driver at a woollen mill?? Spouse could be Harriet. I could also be way off the mark with both. :D

Regards,

Dave

Hello Julie,

Thank you very much.

I think the death certificate saying "No issue" puts to an end the search for Fred. Pity. :2fun:

I will check the children but I have a feeling with spouse as Hannah that it's not the Thomas I was hoping for. Never mind. I have three more Thomas KILNERs to try.

Anyway, Julie, please see if you can find the family you just found in 1871. Thanks. I'm trying by a process of elimination to find a Thomas who died between 1861 and 1871.

EDIT: Oh. That has to be his 2nd spouse. EDIT2: Spouse Ann must have died.

Marriages Dec 1854
Kilner Thomas Henry Huddersfield 9a 363
Wood Harriet Huddersfield 9a 363

I think that middle name helps. :) Probably born 1817 son of Thomas & Matty.

Likely death of first spouse:

Deaths Jun 1853
Kilner Hannah Huddersfield 9a 235

Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave,

Not 100% sure if this is the right one. But the age difference between Harriet and (transcribed as Tona H could be Tom) seem to be more or less the same as the 1861 census.

Hello Julie,

Are you 100% sure. :2fun:

Can I forget about the 2nd spouse and the marriage and the death that fits?

So you agree that the Thomas is the same one in 1861, 1871 and 1881? Then we have succeeded in ruling him out for the 1863 death. Thanks.

1861 all born Huddersfield and 1871 all born Dalton. I agree the 1871 and 1881 are the same family at Broom Grove - born Kirkheaton. :)

I think with a daughter named Matty and the name Thomas Henry I'm happy to say he was born 1817 Kirkheaton to Thomas and Matty.

Regards,

Dave

Its looks like the same family on the censuses. The age difference betwen he and Harriett and the occupation in 1861/1881 and the same address in 1871/1881.

I'm convinced. Thanks, Julie. Matty is a rare name.

----------------

The next one:

name: Thomas Kilner
event: Census
event date: 1861
gender: Male
age: 15
relationship to head of household: Son
birthplace: Huddersfield, Cheshire *** slight error there
record type: Household
registration district: Huddersfield
sub-district: 9 Huddersfield
ecclesiastical parish: Parish Church Huddersfield
civil parish: Huddersfield
county: Yorkshire (West Riding)

Please see if you can find his family in 1861 and 1871. Thanks. The next one to rule in or out for the 1863 death in Huddersfield.

Hello Julie,

Thank you very much. That's the same Thomas in 1861 and 1871 although he has changed occupations. So that rules another one out for the 1863 death.

This fits:

Births Jun 1861
KILNER Matty Huddersfield 9a 340

Regards,

Dave
