1841
HO107 Piece 711 Book/Folio 1/43 Page 8
Civil Parish: Stepney
Registration District: Whitechapel
Sub-RD: Mile End New Town
Adress: Church Street
Josiah Wesley Walker 30 surgeon and apothecary
Ann Taylor Walker 31
Mary Elizabeth Wright Walker 3
All 3 not born in county as per image.

Births Dec 1843
WALKER Josiah Henry Stepney 2 469

Births Jun 1846
Walker Edgar Wright Stepney 2 564

WALKER J W arrived in SA 1848-11-10 aboard Navarino from London 07-15 [Source:6]

One tree has the rest of the family arriving on the 'John Munn' but this does not fit:

WALKER Edward, wife, 7 ch arrived in SA 1849-09-16 aboard John Munn from London 1849-05-21 via Plymouth [Source:6] ??

There is one daughter Ann born 1835 Middlesex not with family for some reason in 1841.

So we are looking for Ann T Walker and 2 daughters and 2 sons arriving after Josiah perhaps not to SA as the family ended up in NSW. Daughter Ann married in NSW in 1855.

It's not the family on the John Munn.

At the moment I can't even name the four children.

Mary Ann Clarissa is not with family in 1841.

This is one in 1841 census:

Births Dec Qtr 1837
Walker Mary Elizabeth Wright Pembroke 26 448

This is one born after 1841 census:

Births Jun Qtr 1846
Walker Edgar Wright Stepney 2 564

Going by a tree on family search  Will need checking of course :2fun::2fun:

Helen Jane Harrild /Walker/
birth: 10 June 1848
London, ENG

death: 12 April 1945
Subiaco, Western Australia

John Edward Pretty /Walker/
birth: 13 January 1851
Camden, NSW, Australia

death: 5 October 1935
Woodburn Park, Picton, NSW, Australia

So if that tree is correct arrival would have been between 1848 and before Jan 1851.

How does Edward WALKER on John Munn fit in? Is he a brother of Josiah?

Even if he is a brother that is not Josiah's wife and 4 children.

When and where did Helen marry Edward?

This is getting weird.

Marriages Jun Qtr 1877
Pretty Edward Bedford 3b 514
Walker Helen Jane H Bedford 3b 514

I'm not convinced Helen is a daughter of Josiah and Ann T.

Hi guys, found your discussion when doing more research. Hope this helps. Helen Jane Harrild Walker is the daughter of Josiah Wesley Walker and Ann Taylor Pretty (cousins). Helen married Edward Pretty (again cousins) in England where they met. Helen travelled to England in her twenties (interesting story) where she met Edward. Both led very interesting lives. Helen is my great grandmother.

Hello Maggie1306 and welcome to the Forum

Thanks for the details. It's been some time since I've looked at that part of my tree.

Regards,

Dave
