Hello, I am new to this site.
I started researching my Family History over 20 years ago, & am still adding bits every so often.
I come back to family members that I have given up on in the past.
One being my 3 x Great Grandfather John Rook he is shown on his son's (George Rook) marriage certificate to Victoria Constance Clarke in 1863 as a Clockmaker. They were married at St James Church in Shoreditch London.
I have never been able to find where John Rook was born or who he was married to. On the 1851 census he is shown as living at Boston Street Shoredith married to a Sarah(surname not known) born Middlesex occupation Clockmaker, but apart from that I have no other leads.
So along with this family, & my Crowleys from West Cork who are another mystery, I try with difficulty to go back further.
Has anybody ever come across a clockmaker called John Rook?
Thanks
