Tomorrow, being 'April Fool's Day', the above is being played at Aldershot between 2nd Battalion Royal Welsh and 12 Regiment Royal Artillery. Whilst that is not of interest to many, it is also the last day the 2nd Battalion Royal Welsh exist as they have been subjected to the recent cuts in the Army. So a Battalion which will no longer be a part of the Army could (if they win) walk away with the Cup!
The 1st Battalion Royal Welsh will now be formed with about 50/50 of those that served with both Battalions and a parade for this is taking place on Thursday at Tidworth. Members of the Regimental Association Branches are attending, me along with 5 of my colleagues from our branch, and lunch is laid on, so I wonder if the food has improved since my days! :biggrin:
