Army Wedding 1916

My grandmother married a driver in the ASC in London 1916. This was not by banns or licence but 'by certificate'. Would this be a certificate from the Army saying the soldier could get married and, if so, what information would it contain? I think he may have already been married.

Thanks.

"I think he may have already been married."

My granddad came back from the Great War with "Love May" tattooed across a heart on his arm. He was already married to my gran Rose before he went to France. I gather he found her right hook more frightening than Fritz! :2fun:
