Hello,

Hi Dave,

1871 RG10/0721/F56/p66

2 Thurlow Park Road, Camberwell

Henry Watts 65 Head Principal ? keeper in the office of ? General of the Archbisop of Canterbury Born Pentonville
Ester Watts 63 wife Frome Somerset
Ester Sophia Neale 36 dau Islington Middlesex
Samuel Neale 41 son in law Cashier and Clerk Cornhill London
Lilian M Neale 12 dranddaughter Brixton Surrey
Arnold Ferrier Neale 3 grandson Dulwich Surrey

In 1881 Samuel and Ester are still living with her parents along with son Douglas JE aged 9 and daughter Hilda M aged 6. No sign anywhere of 13 year old Alfred.

Also sorry about the question marks in Henry Watts occupation but I couldn't read what was on the image. Believe it or not the transcription had his occupation down as Bishop of Canterbury. I thought you'd gone up in the world!

The closest I can find for him is an A S Neill aged 13 born Pimlico, Middlesex. He is a pupil at the Warehouseman and Clerks School, Russell Hill. Parish Beddington Reg District Croydon

RG11/0828/F115/p5

I've had a look at the image of the original and it is definitely A S Neill

I'm mentionnig it as Arnold's father was a Cashier and Clerk in 1871 and a Merchant Clerk in 1881

Hello Emeltee,

Thank you very much.

Up in the world. I'd prefer to find a few more convicts to get even with all the clergymen in my tree. I'd be glad not to gain a Bishop.

Regards,

Dave

I believe it is an error with the middle initial. If it is my John HAMILTON he is Presbyterian and yet he is buried in a Catholic cemetery with his wife Margaret. A double wedding in NSW:

4730/1893 HAMILTON JOHN - MCCARTHY MARGARET - MARRICKVILLE
4731/1893 NEALE ARNOLD I - MCCARTHY MARY J - MARRICKVILLE

I'll have to get a copy of marriage certificate to see if it is my John or an error in a tree.
