I am looking for some help with my English Ancestors. My family name is Ash and my ancestors lived in Bradford on Avon Wiltshire. What I have so far is my 2x Great Grandfather was Shadrach Ash born Feb 1807 in Bradford on Avon, died 1896 in Adelaide and he married Leonora Batchelor born abt 1807 also from Bradford on Avon who died 1856 in Bendigo Victoria Australia.
They were married Sept. 8th 1829 in the Holy Trinity Church in Bradford on Avon. Shadrach, Leonora and 3 children emigrated to Adelaide South Australia Australia on the 4th April 1840 arriving 7th July 1840.
Shadrach's father was William Ash (my 3x GGF) also from Bradford on Avon born (1769 -1842) married Hannah (Ann) Head (1771-1853) from Westwood Wiltshire, on May 20th 1794.
My brick-wall - who were William Ash's mother & father ????.
I have found a record of a William Ash (B & D unknown) and Catherine Eyles (abt 1744 -1793) both from South Wraxall who were married in the Parish, Bradford on Avon, 29th July 1767. Could this be the correct record.?????
A number of other Ash family trees have my 3xGGF William Ash listed as coming from Cornwall or Devon but the marriage record do not match.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Regards

The only thing i can think of is to find the actual baptism record for William and see who his parents are. I'm not good at query's this far back so it was just a thought :)

Hi Gibbo, thankyou for responding to my post and your suggestion. I have started looking at old Wiltshire records in particular Bradford on Avon to find a trail to follow. I am looking to find records from the other parishes within Wiltshire so if I find the right person I will post any successI have.
