The oldest resident of Stroud district, has
just passed away in the person of Mr.
James Barnes, of Clareval. He was the first
white man who landed at Carrington, Port
Stephens, the original settlement of the Aus-
tralian Agricultural Company.

Then Joseph as father on the death reg in post #1 is an error.

Jemima's death date agrees with that tree.

I think that site has more accurate details than the Monaro site.

Also trying to check the two baptisms.

The minister must have been deaf, writing shoemaker for shepherd.

Maybe change of occupation, Shepherd in the UK and shoemaker once he arrived here??

He was employed on the Estate of the Australian Agricultural Company and they had sheep and cattle. In 1840 he was a farmer.

I don't think you learn the trade of shoemaker in that situation.
