Hi

As you may have gathered, I have been away in Durham for a few days. I have been researching my Durham ancestors and found out many new things and will send off for more certs. Durham is a very vibrant county and is more built up than I thought it would be. I stopped off in York on the way up and we went to the Jorvik Viking Museum.

Hi Ben

Pleased to hear you had a productive 'hunting' trip. You had good weather as well.

When my husband was in the Royal Air Force we were stationed near York when the Viking Centre opened, it was very interesting and I am sure it has evolved since then.

Hi Julie

Yes, I enjoyed it. Gedcom the Viking museum is very realistic and smelly.

Most of my Durham relatives were miners in the coilleries. The county is more modern than I expected it to be.

My great grandmother left London in 1919 to move to Durham with her Durham born husband. I found their address on electoral registers the lot.

Hi Steve

Yes it has. I shall send off for a few more death certificates now.

The Vikings may have had trading connections with The Far East.

You are right about those Vikings Ben, I think they were coast crawlers, and went up every river that they could find.
All around the Medditeranean, Black Sea, Russia (as it is today), India, East Africa.
They certainly 'clocked' up a few miles.

I am led to believe that my dna is Viking, also my surname is Norman(Norse). And I'm fairly tall.
So lock up your wives and daughters and hide your money.
