My 3xgt grandmother was Elizabeth Bolderson was born 1808 Liverpool to a Richard Bolderson and his wife Elizabeth (Nee Mcguire). Richard and Elizabeth married in Liverpool in 1797.

I thought I had found Richard's baptism in 1772, son of Richard and Catherine. However it would appear that that Richard died in 1780.

Richard and Catherine had several children including a Thomas baptised 1774 and a Thomas baptised 1784. This particular Thomas died 1785 but I cannot find a death for the first Thomas.

Going back to Richard and Elizabeth I have found a death for a Richard in Liverpool in 1832. Age at death gives a birth year of 1774. As I cannot find a death or a marriage for the Thomas born 1774 I have come up with a wild theory that when young Richard did in 1780 young Thomas was renamed Richard. I said it was a wild theory.

Do you think this could be the case or am I away with the fairies again. Or can anyone find a birth for Richard between 1770 and 1780. I'm fairly certain that my Boldersons, Richard or otherwise had nothing to do with the Balderson family of Wgan or with any families of the same name from Lincolnshire as I have found appropriate marriages/deaths for them.

There are various spellings of the name Balderson/Bolderson/ Balderston etc etc.
