We may have to assume that 1817 marriage is the right one and that William changed occupations that year.

I can't see any other baptisms in Winwick, Lowton, Golbourne with parents William & Margaret. But we still have the family dave found in post #2. But William & Margaret are younger.

Is this the Elizabeth in post #2?

It is some-times called Newton-le-Willows,

Oh!

We could have the wrong family

Don't know Geoff.

We know we have two different William & Margaret - the ones in post #2 are much younger. We only have the one marriage in 1817. I can't find a baptism that fits for either William.

I was trying to find baptisms for the children in post #2 and found that one with mother = Mary.

Yeah and the problem is they are all. b. Lancashire....

We do know that Simeon has a brother bro. b. abt. 1835.

This is the corresponding baptism for Elizabeth:

Baptism: 29 May 1836 St Peter, Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, England
Elizabeth Ball - [Child] of William Ball & Margaret
Born: 17 Apr 1836
Abode: Newton
Occupation: Labourer
Baptised by: Jno. Sedgwick Curate
Register: Baptisms 1835 - 1844 from the Bishop's Transcripts, Page 161, Entry 1286

I can't find one for Margaret.

Occupation matches that for the William in post #2.

So we very clearly have 2x William & Margaret of different ages but only one marriage.
