Hi, me again, you're probably fed up with my posting but I have a question. Since A*****y have transcribed the LMA's London Parish registers, I have been able to find one or two elusive records; one of these may be one I've been looking for for over a year, but I have absolutely no way of telling. The lack of occupation detail means I cannot validate one record from another.

As an alternative, do the trade directories go back to the 1740's? I have no experience of these, and don't even know where to find them, but there is a consistent occupation throughout my maternal family from Georgian to Victorian, and I think that may narrow it down.

I'm not really sure what I'm asking, to be honest, other than for some advice from those who have researched back to this era. How did you make sure the records you found were the people you were looking for?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Ryan:)

As an addition, would the trade directories or any general knowledge tell me whether a particular trade flourished in a certain area? There are two potential baptisms for the earliest traced ancestor, and one is standing out to me. I have the names, date and an address for these people, so would I be able to look them up in the trade directories? if they existed in 1737.
