Hello crankypants,

In his book Australian Folklore, Bill Wannan discusses various Buckleys and concludes: ‘It would appear that until further research is undertaken there is Buckley’s chance of solving the problem of how this phrase first came to circulate’ :2fun:

Hello crankypants,

Yes, I know. I was surprised it took me so long to realise father and son had the same name.
It was after 10 am here  and I've been awake since 6 am.

Hello crankypants,

Thanks.

The Sydney Morning Herald - Saturday 5 April 1952 p.38
DEATHS
FARRAN (Andy) George.-April 4, 1952, at R.G.H. Concord, dearly beloved husband of Dossie...

I don't know where George was. All I know is that there were some 'problems' with some of the extended family. Dorothy ended up in WA with relatives. Some of the family went to WA and didn't want to return to NSW. Not sure about Dorothy but certainly some delay in her burial.

FARRAN Dorothy Adeline May Death notice 31MAY1993 Death late of Hornsby and Maroubra, died in WA Sydney Morning Herald 02JUN1993

No burial found in WA.

Died 31 May 1993 in WA and buried 15 Sep 1993 at Botany, NSW ???

Regards,

Dave
