On the site ditigial Panioptican my Benjamin Ayrton has been given a place of birth as Rowley Hill, dob about 1814 - couldd be the lead we need When I was reading the original docs I thought "browley" was his physical discription .....

https://www.digitalpanopticon.org/life?id=fasai02037

Quick summary:

Parents James / Weaver / Holdeck (Leeds)
Mother Esther

siblings: William also a convict
Brothers Ben, James, Richard
Sisters Hannah, Nany ? , Mary

Ref: http://www.familyhistory.uk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=29357

Does anyone have any access to info on Rowley Hill to see if this family is anywhere in this region

Unfortunately I don't have access to Rowley Hill which is near Huddersfield. However I can only find one marriage for a James Airton/Ayrton to an Esther.

1841
Ho107/1344/9/F43
Holbeck Leeds
James Airton 70 Labourer
Ester Airton 60
James 30 Woollen Cloth Weaver
All born Yorkshire

1851
HO107/2317/F414/p26
Wilson Street, Wortley
James Allott 42 Holbeck
Mary Allott 48 Holbeck
Ester Airton mother in law 72 widow pauper Wortley

I haven't been able to find any baptisms for children of James and Esther.

Hi Emeltree & Ellie,

Thank you for having a look, these people have popped up before but not sure if they are mine .....

Been doing some hunting around but need some advise... Please

I can purchase the following " Rowley Regis St. Giles Parish Register Transcripts" from BSMGH - Midland Ancestors -

Link - http://bmsgh-shop.org.uk/Staffordsh...isters-DV10D?sort=pd.name&order=ASC&limit=100

My lot were Methodist, would they be listed in parish regs.... I'm a little confused when it comes to this sort of thing....

I have some families listed as Wesleyan on shipping records to Australia. Some of those families have Wesleyan baptisms in England and some have CofE baptisms and some no baptisms found. From the NC families in my tree I can say you can't be sure what baptisms you may find in English records for any children.

Several points.

Ages in 1841 were supposed to be rounded down mod 5 so 30 for James could be 30 - 34. Also 70 could be 70-74 etc ... So all three not born in 1811.

Ages in court and convict records always seem to vary a lot. Some must be pure guesses from the appearance of the person.

Marriage of James jun?
