Hi Dave,

Haven’t yet found Henry and Barbara, but here is Emily....

Class: HO107; Piece: 1825; Folio: 321; Page: 17

John Stanner 50
Caroline Stanner 46
Emily Stanner, 14
James Stanner 6

The address looks like *ettleshall Road, Litcham but difficult to make out the first letter!

There are a couple of Bensley families in the same area, but Henry and Barbara don't seem to be with them!

:) Josie

Hello Josie,

Thanks for looking. I don't know how Emily fits in. Of all Henry's married children I don't have a STANNER.

Hello Josie,

Thanks. I don't have any of Henry's siblings because I don't have his mother:

Death # 3982/1868 BENSLEY HENRY HENRY DIED GOULBURN GOULBURN

He was buried near Crookwell under an apricot tree on 'Springfield' - the site of the grave has been lost.

Sarah is the only one I have no marriage or death or census listing or shipping record for:

Sarah c. 24 Jan 1828 Great Fransham All Saints

Dave

Just been having a look for a Stanner/Bensley marriage, but sadly nothing!

Also searched for a birth/baptism of Caroline with parents Henry and Barbara -again nothing!

Maybe Emily Stanner was employed as a servant by Henry, or just accompanied him on his journey?

Hello Josie,

Privately submitted IGI entry

John STANNER & CAROLINE WARNER
Marriage: 12 OCT 1825 Litcham, Norfolk

Don't know why Emily was with Henry and Barbara. Elizabeth NUNN d. 1830 was Henry's first spouse.

Dave

Just a long shot, here, Dave!

Barbara's name was WARMEN and Caroline's name was WARNER.

Given that they weren't very good at spelling, do you think there is a possibility that Barbara and Caroline were related - maybe sisters?

Hello Josie,

Yes, they are similar names but Barbara was a widow when she married Henry. I'd say we are stuck. If it was closer to one of my main lines I'd look further. I mainly wanted to fill the gap with Henry before he left England but it seems he can't be found in the census.

A witness to Henry's first marriage in 1812 a Charlotte BENSLEY.

Regards,

Dave
