I'm researching my Benton line, which comes from Epping Forest. On the christening record for my ancestor John Benton, christened 16 Jun 1594 in Epping, his father is listed as Ryc. Benton. Can someone please tell me if Ryc is the shortened form of Richard, or another name? Is anyone else researching this line?
