Should think as Reg. became compulsory, some people would drop the Bapts.
Perhaps thinking 1 record was enough.

Ellie
There was a big push by the church to combat any fall off in baptisms, both the church and indeed some vicars refused to bury parisioners who had not been baptised.
There was quite a commotion pamphlets were produced urging people to baptise their children Civil Registration did not quietly slip into place in peoples lives.
Cheers

St. Martin 1837-1904 Liverpool STM 1894-1904

Only 1894- 1904 indexed to date on Lancs BMD.

Only one looks to have a good sample.

Much Woolton 1837- Liverpool MW 1837-1922

I've looked Ellie and St. Martin is not on the list.

I have not emailed the Liverpool Record office.

I can't see any other email. No OPC for Liverpool Central.

Looking for a birth reg in Sub-RD St Martin of Liverpool RD.

I have the baptisms at CofE St. Peter Liverpool.

I also have a copy of the birth certificate for a second brother also Sub-RD St Martin so I'm working for now hoping my great grandfather Thomas was the same.

The eldest John was born in Paisley. All the census have Thomas born Liverpool. I've looked in case he was also born in Scotland and can't find a birth there. John is 8 in 1861 so it looks like the family moved from Paisley to Liverpool 1853 or 1854. William born 30 Nov 1855 Liverpool so Thomas between John and William.

If I've got it right, the Sub-RD of St Martin is in the Vauxhall district of Liverpool. The Parish church is St Martin in the Field and lancs.opc does have entries for that church. Eldon Street lies between Vauxhall Road and Scotland Road.

Thanks Emeltee.

I'm missing a birth reg. I have all the baptisms.

Thomas and William baptised the same day in 1856 at St. Peter's. Abode given as Eldon Place.

William's birth registered in Sub-RD St. Martin in 1856 and address given as 35 Eldon St.

1861 address in Sub-RD St. Martin was 94 New Hedley St.

I purchased a copy of a birth reg for a Thomas that was the only one I found in FreeBMD and turned out to be the wrong one.

I looked in the Lancs BMD site.

I cannot find a likelyThomas searching all names starting with B in the index for Liverpool for 1853-1856.

I looked further and they have no coverage for Sub-RD St. Martin for 1850s or 1860s.
