Hi Dave,
Found him - 12 Nov 1917 - Passengers for the Port of Fremantle from Devonport Tasmania - ship "SS Suevio" which has Leonard D Blackman from Plymouth and in calling or Occupation column has "Personnel A.I.F.
woo hoo - Leonard's Service record of 14 pages is on NAA and lists his UK address and Dad Thomas as NOK

I think this could be your Leonard arriving from UK in Immigration - Unassisted NSW Immigrant Passengers arriving 23 Feb 1912 Sydney from London on ship "Rangatira"

Thanks Val.

A possible. Enough time to get to WA and enlist in 1916.

I'd better have another look at 1911 census index. No sign of him.
