I'm trying to sort out 2x Betty OXLEE - one born 1787 - father David and one born 1790 - father Richard.

Dave

According to a tree this Betty died in 1849 and Charles died in 1856 so I'd like a look up for Charles in 1851 please.

I don't know yet how the author of the tree knows it's the Betty with father = David.

1851:
Charles Booth
Born abt 1785 Kirkburton, Yorkshire

Event: Marriage
Parish: Kirkburton, All Hallows
Spouse's Name: Charles Booth
[Wit: John Oxley; John Woodhouse] Pity not David or Richard Oxley

Geoff

If this is the witness, Betty's father could be Richard, there is a distinct name variation though, notwithstanding the Elizabeth/Betty and David having a son John, possibilities...

Jonathan Oxlee
Date: 15 Sep 1787
Event: Baptism
Parish: Kirkburton, All Hallows
Father's Name: Richard Oxlee

Thanks Geoff.

I wonder if there is any way to sort them out. This is the other one who is 'Betty' in the census and in the baptism records of the children:

1841
HO107 Piece 1273 Book/Folio 1/7 Page 10
Civil Parish: Almondbury
County: Yorkshire
Address: Newsom
James Armitage 50 Stone Mason
Betty Armitage 50
Martha Armitage 15

James ARMITAGE & Elizabeth OXLEY
23 Sep 1811 Kirkburton, Yorkshire

No 190
James Armitage of the Parish Kirkheaton
Elizabeth Oxley of this Parish
Married in this Church by Banns
this 23 Day of September 1811 By me O. Lodge Curate
Both by their mark
Witnesses: John McDonald ? E. E. Booth ?

The image is very faint and hard to read.

Deaths Jun Qtr 1849
Booth Betty Huddersfield 22 269

Age in 1841 is no help sorting 1787 and 1790 as they are both 50.

Children of the James & Betty ARMITAGE in my tree and no Richard or David:

Mary
Thomas
Charles
James
Martha

The tree just has 1849 Yorkshire West Riding.

The other one has children:

Benjamin
Mary
David
Ann
Betty

Thanks Geoff.

My Betty is not so easy:

Deaths Jun 1843
ARMITAGE Betty Huddersfield 22 272
Deaths Dec 1843
ARMITAGE Betty Huddersfield 22 161
Deaths Jun 1844
ARMITAGE Betty Huddersfield 22 210
Deaths Sep 1845
ARMITAGE Betty Huddersfield 22 171
Deaths Mar 1846
Armitage Betty Huddersfield 22 228

And even more than that for James 1841 - 1851.

Thanks Geoff.

Newsom(e) Almondbury.

Daughter Mary:

Mary Barroclough (age 45), wife of Jacob B was buried on 25 Nov, 1856 at All Hallows, Almondbury. Abode - Newsome Cross.

This looks to be the closest:

29 Oct 1843 Betty Armitage aged 54, Huddersfield, Almondbury All Hallows, bur.

Possible birth about 1789...

Thanks Geoff.

That looks good. I'll have to add this to my list:

Deaths Dec Qtr 1843
ARMITAGE Betty Huddersfield 22 161

Yes, but it's probably a brick wall.

From the marriage we know James ARMITAGE was from Kirkheaton.

In 1841 he is 50 and a Stone mason.

I can't find a tree to give me any hints as to his father's name or baptism date.
