Hi: I am J Harleen Acton, my family is seeking information on the following people. Elizabeth and Florence Boyle, both sisters were born in Halifax, Yorkshire, West Riding, England. Elizabeth was born in 1871, died May 30, 1948 in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, laid to rest in Christ Church Cemetery. Florence's birth date is unknown as well as her date of death and where she passed away. We are seeking information on who the Grandparents, Parents, and any other siblings are, birth, deaths, etc.... Elizabeth married 2 times, that we know. Her first marriage was to William Roberts, they had 5 children. There were twin sons, Charlie, and John killed in WW1, Joseph, Jane, Eliza. All born in England. Some immigrated to Canada and USA later on. We know that Mr. Roberts passed away, but are unsure when and where in England. Maybe Halifax, Yorkshire, West Riding but this would be guess at this point. The second marriage for Elizabeth was to John Farrer Helliwell. We have no information on Mr. Helliwell or his family, and are having trouble finding any thing on who his family are, Parents, Grandparents, Siblings, etc... Elizabeth and John did have a 1 child a son. His name is Frederick Jellicoe Helliwell according to his birth certificate. He was born on June 28, 1915, at Mill House Farm, Cadley, Fulwood, England. Elizabeth and Frederick immigrated to Kingston, Ontario, Canada(just the two of them). What complicates matters is that Frederick's surname changed to Roberts when they came to Canada, he was 5 years old at the time. Elizabeth as well reverted back to her former married name of Roberts. We don't know why/when the change of names happened. If anyone would have information on any of these family members it would be greatly appreciated.

The other question i have is about Florence, if you have no information on her such as not finding a birth etc for her where did the information on her been a sister to Elizabeth etc come from?

Unfortunately we have no certificate of birth for both Elizabeth and Florence, the only thing we know is they were born in Halifax. We had relatives in Kingston, On, Canada that gave us this information.

Unfortunately we have no certificate of birth for both Elizabeth and Florence, the only thing we know is they were born in Halifax. We had relatives in Kingston, On, Canada that gave us this information.

I don't like advising people to buy certificates all the time as it can get expensive but i think in this case you really need to obtain Elizabeth's birth cert, it will give parents names which will give you a good start.

I can't find Joseph. Also Elizabeth is noted as married yet appears to be living in this household so don't know where her husband it.

Elizabeth married 2 times, that we know. Her first marriage was to William Roberts, they had 5 children.

Can you confirm her first husband was William Roberts? Just the only marriage i can find for a Elizabeth Boyle marrying a Roberts is this one, and he is Frank.

Hi,

I’ve been working on the couple John and Jane Boyle. I can find a Jane Hayes born 1852 Macclesfield with Parents William and Mary Ann. Couldn’t find this family in 1881, only the one that Gibbo posted. Janes father William was also born Ireland and roughly the same year of birth and occupation of the William in 1881. There’s a death in the March 1/4
1874 for a Mary Ann Hayes. Also in the same 1/4 year 1876 there is a marriage for a William Hayes, brides listed are -
Ann Turner - Susannah Casey. This may be worth looking into.

A Mary Boyle born 9 Aug 1869 Halifax England, married Christian Gotz in Pennsylvania on 6 Apr 1895. A family tree on Ancestry has her middle name of Ellen. This may be worth looking into as well.

Marriage to Frank Roberts is the only one i could find also [post #11] no marriage to a William. I also had a look for the marriage to Helliwell and couldn't find one, unless i overlooked it.
