Brick Wall Again!

I'm trying to find the birth of Richard Hustler born 1789 in Thornton which is now Thornton le Dale, Yorkshire. I have searched the parish records but no sign of him. The birth year fits with his date of death (1869 aged 80) and also each census shows his correct age. I have also looked at surrounding villages but no luck. Anybody have anything else to offer?

Thornton reminds me of a problem I had finding records of births there a couple of years ago.

If I remember rightly I looked in a town nearby and found the family who did not celebrate at their local church. Cant recall which one but try a Google map. Its probably Malton but it might be Pickering? You are in Harewood Country so all sorts of possibilities occur ;-)

Glad to know it's not only me. May have to widen search as you say but the name Hustler was very prominent in the parish records of Thornton. Typical that the one I want wasn't there.

Hi Gladys,

Have just joined the site so have only just come across your brick wall.
There are other Thorntons in Yorkshire:
Thornton in Craven & Thornton in Bradford perhaps this may be your problem.
