Hi I do not know if anyone can help on the marriage front I have two brick walls and this is no 1
the facts as I know them -
Isabella Beattie born 1830 Bamburgh district Nbl. 1851 single. On 1861 census married living with husband Henry Fenwick b. Morpeth Nbl about 1831, her parents, 4 children the oldest Isabella Ann 6yrs so I have looked everywhere for a marriage cert from 1851to 1873 when she died, there is a marriage 1853 in Belford district of a James Martin and an Isabella Beattie, but this is not the one, someone did suggest it may be an irregular marriage, but someone was kind enough to check it out - to no avail. On her death cert it states wife of Henry Fenwick, and when he remarried in 1875 he was on the cert as a widower - so I am clueless, did they marry? or just live together as common law man and wife, could they have nipped over the border and married? or is it one of those missing marriages? I would be very grateful if anyone could offer any advice on where to go next
