Looking for the error in the following, thanks.

Bap V18461723 63/1846 O'BRIEN BRIDGET - JOHN - CATHERINE

Roman Catholic Baptisms Solemnized in the Parish of St. Bedes Appin in the County of Cumberland 1846
Bridget - John O'Brien & Catherine Garvey Abode: Berrima Quality or Profession: Constable When Born: Oct. 10th 1846 When Baptised: Novr. 8th By whom the Ceremony was performed: Rev. John Grant

Marriage 3661/1872 BARNES GEORGE - O'BRIEN BRIDGET - WAGGA WAGGA * 5 Nov 1872

2nd Marriage ??
5156/1880 DUNN JAMES - BARNES BRIDGET - WAGGA WAGGA
5160/1880 DUNN JAMES - BARNES BRIDGET - WAGGA WAGGA * 24 Jun 1880

1913 NSW Electoral Roll - MURRUMBIDGEE - NARRANDERA POLLING-PLACE
DUNN Bridget, Sand Hills, domestic duties
DUNN James, Sand Hills, labourer

------
Death 10782/1915 DUNN BRIDGET - JOHN - COROWA * 21 Aug 1915

Albury Banner and Wodonga Express (NSW : 1896 - 1938 ) - Friday 27 August 1915 p.30
PERSONAL AND SOCIAL
The death took place at Mulwala on Friday alts of a most estimable citizen, in the person of Mrs. Bridget Dunn, mother of Mrs. Margaret Green and Mr. Jno. Dunn, of Mulwala. The deceased, who was in her 81st year, and has not enjoyed good health for some time, was one of the pioneer residents of the district, and enjoyed the respect of a large circle of acquaintances. Her husband predeceased her some years ago, and of late year Mrs. Dunn had spent a good deal of her time at Geelong, coming to Mulwala during the winter months.

Something is very wrong. Age 81 does not fit. Pioneer resident of that district on the Murray does not fit.

5x births in NSW for a John DUNN with mother = Bridget

Marriage 3556/1891 GREEN THOMAS - DUNNE MARGARET - COROWA

??
Birth DUNN MARGARET 4763/1865 PATRICK - BRIDGET - ALBURY

??
Birth DUNN JOHN 6956/1861 PATRICK - BRIDGET - DENILIQUIN

Looks as though Albury, Corowa and Mulwala rule the 1915 death out.

The baptism and the 1872 marriage to George BARNES is correct.

Death 397/1878 BARNES GEORGE - - * 23 Apr 1878 * Not CofE burial *

Probably the 1880 marriage and probably 1913 roll is correct.

What follows may not be.

Death DUNN BRIDGET 17788/1929 WILLIAM 83 YRS YOUNG YOUNG * 25 Aug

Now we have a problem.

Age is correct but expected father to be John.

John Grant

So, what part in my tree is now wrong?

RC Bap O'BRIEN BRIDGET 493/1848 V1848493 67 WILLIAM - HANORIA

I can't see a marriage for a Bridget O'Brien to a James Dunn.

I can't see a marriage for a Bridget O'Brien to a James Dunn.
If you are happy she married Barnes [d. 1878] then this looks possible..

Bridget Barnes
Spouse: James Dunn
Marriage Date: 1880
Registration Place: Wagga Wagga, New South Wales
Registration Year: 1880
Registration Number: 5156

The Agatha who married John Barnes is sorted because we have her parents listed on her marriage.

I was working on the idea that sisters married Barnes brothers but with father listed as William on Bridget's obit that theory had to be reconsidered.

I have not found a copy of Bridget's marriage and there appears to be no marriage for a Bridget O'Brien to a James Dunn so Bridget nee O'brien marriage to James Dunn two years after the death of George Barnes would fit.

Age at death points to Bridget dau of John not dau of William. I will try this afternoon to get a copy of the baptism of Bridget dau of William to see where she was born. Her obit says...

...lived most of her life in the Coolamon district ...
... whereas Bridget dau of John was born Berrima.

There is a problem trying to sort it by looking at the children.

Bridget
... is survived by four sons and two daughters.
James
... leaves a widow and a family of three grown up sons ...
James
... leaves a widow, two sons and a daughter.

Xmas special deal $18 for NSW transcriptions but I don't think it's worth the chance. Too many marriages only have the names, date, place and name of minister and nothing re age or parents. Don't know yet why 2x

3661/1872 BARNES GEORGE - O'BRIEN BRIDGET - WAGGA WAGGA * 5 Nov 1872 * Not CofE
3667/1872 BARNES GEORGE - O'BRIEN BRIDGET - WAGGA WAGGA

5156/1880 DUNN JAMES - BARNES BRIDGET - WAGGA WAGGA
5160/1880 DUNN JAMES - BARNES BRIDGET - WAGGA WAGGA * 24 Jun 1880

Isabella Bridget Barnes
Gender Female
Christening Date 30 Jun 1878
Christening Place St. Michael's, Wagga Wagga, NSW
Birth Date 03 Jun 1878
Father's Name George Barnes
Mother's Name Bridget O'Brien

That's a clue. St. Michael's is the RC Cathedral.

Marriage is not CofE (Barnes) so probably RC (Bridget).

Searching for a film of the parish registers of St Michael's RC Wagga only gets a hit for CofE St Michael's Wollongong.

If we assume Bridget's father is William then her mother is one of ...

Eliza, Margaret, Honorah, Agnes, Catherine, Ellen, Rose, Bridget, Fanny - all with baptisms with father = William

If it is Honorah then there are 6 or 7 children listed starting with Edwin in 1844. One looks to be a duplicate with an error.

9x deaths for Honorah (variations).

It is possible that father = William is an error on Bridget's obit and we are back to sisters marrying brothers. That's the problem.

Bap V1849443 67/1849 O'BRIEN JOHN - JOHN - CATHERINE

Reel 5024
Roman Catholic Baptisms in the Parish of Yass in the County of Murray 1850
John - John O'Brien & Catherine Garvin Abode: Lachlan Quality or Profession: Settler When Born: February 1st 1849 When Baptised: March 24th 1850 By whom the Ceremony was performed: P. Magennis R.C.C.

Death for John is the same year 1929. 24 July. Found nothing yet in Trove.

It looks as though there is no film of St Michael's Wagga.

I can find nothing in Trove re John in Young.

Next time I'm at the State Library I'll have to check 1928 Electoral roll. Might find John & Bridget together at Young.
