Burchell and Jupp.... so confused

I have found ancestors all from Pulborough, W. Sussex called Frederick George Burchell (1889-1964) and his parents James Burchell (born 1852) and Alice Godfrey (1863) but then I become seriously confused... Basically, James is the son of a Luke Burchell and an Elizabeth, but there seems to be lots of different James Burchells in Pulborough who marry several different Elizabeths. To add to the confusion, I have seen Elizabeth Jupp mentioned, but there are also multiple Elizabeth Jupps in this village. If anyone can shed any light on this family, I would be extremely grateful.
Many Thanks.
