Hi

Talking about that Henry Stock born in Finchingfield, Essex who would have been aged 18 in the 1861 census and is missing from that census yet appears in all others did actually have quite an eventful life and was a businessman in Leigh On Sea.

Some of his family members moved from North to South Essex in the 1850s. Henry married in 1866 in Leigh On Sea to widow Caroline Ferguson.

In the 1871 census Henry was a General Dealer living at High Street, Leigh.
An 1874 Essex directory lists a Henry Stock of Leigh On Sea, a coal merchant. Must be my Henry as there is no other Henry Stock's in the area.
In the 1881 census Henry was a drainpipe maker Earthenware dealer.
In the 1891 census he worked at Victoria Pottery, Leigh.
In 1899 he is listed as a dairyman of Leigh Road, Leigh On Sea.
In the 1901 census he is a Dairyman and Cowman.
In the 1911 census he is a Dairyman and Cowman.

Henry died in 1915.

Quite a businessman hey?

Ben
