Hi

Sorry to be a pain but I would love some help please.

In my tree I have a Thos Bustin born July 1819 Woolvercott, he was baptised there as well, he is with Sophia Robinson in 1851 wiith children Charles R Bustin b 1838, Richard 1840, Sophia 1842, Henry 1844, Julia 1848, and Ellen 1850,

From Oxford records I know that the first child Charles was born as Charles Robinson,

I cannot find them in 1841 census and by 1851 the census gives the surname as Bustin for all of them, So my Question is when and where did they marry or was Sophia and Charles just assuming the name of Bustin?

Incidently they are missing from the 1861 census.

Before I go totaly bald from pulling my hair out  please help, Thank you.

Gwen :)

Hi Peter

Thank you, I think that that is the Charles Robinson born 1838, he is the older brother of my Ancestor Henry born 1843 in Woolvercott.

Hi
It is funny that Elizabeth Bastin, the mother is with her son William, in Woolvercott in 1841. There are plenty of Robersons on the census too, but no Sophiah, nor any other Bustins. I went through all 10 pages of the census for Woolvercott

Perhaps they were sent to Coventry to have the child!!

Hi Gwen
something to make you think....

1841 England Census

Name: Charles Roberson
Age: 3
Estimated birth year: abt 1838
Gender: Male
Where born: Oxfordshire, England

Civil parish: Woolvercott
Hundred: Wootton
County/Island: Oxfordshire
Country: England

Registration district: Woodstock
Sub-registration district: Woodstock

Thomas Roberson 45
Sarah Roberson 45
Edward Roberson 14
Charles Roberson 3

I wonder if Thomas is Sophiah's father Edward's brother?

Hi Dave
I have the parish records on disc which is where I traced the birth of Charles, although Thos Bustin is not named as the father, there is a marked possibility that your assumption that Thomas Roberson is the Gfather of Charles, but where were Thos Bustin and Sophia Robson in 1841,

My Tree is on Ancestry, some of the trees are copied from mine. ( Green family tree)

Thank you for your help, Hopefuly a fresh pair of eyes will help solve the mystery.

Gwen :)
