I'd like a look up please for the following BUTCHARD / BUTCHART family in 1841.

George b. ?
Hannah b. ?
Jean/Jane b. abt 1824 Eklig ?, Renfrew

No sign of the marriage in IGI around the right date. Also, I've been through all the parishes in Renfrew in GENUKI and looked at all the town and villages and can't find anything close to 'Eklig'.

Thanks,

Dave

Sorry nothing in 1841 census foe this family.

Do you have a marriage for Jean/Jane, perhaps I can track her in 1851, 1861 etc.

I did a search in 1851 with EKLIG only and found this family.

Civil Parish: New Monkland
County: Lanarkshire
Address: Peters Burn Hamlet

James EARL 1822 age29 Eklig, Renfrew Coal Miner
Jane EARL 1825 age 26 Eklig, Renfrew
Christina EARL 1845 age 6 Bothwell, Lanark
Ann EARL 1847 age 4 New Monkland, Lanark
John EARL 1849 age 2 New Monkland, Lanark
Janet EARL 1851 age 1 mo New Monkland, Lanark

coincidence??

cheers

Hi Dave

Following this family in 1861 and as you would expect takes you to the ARROLL family, which you would already have.

So did Jane BUTCHARD/BUTCHART b. 1824 Eklig marry James ARROL before 1845.

cheers

Hello crankypants,

Thanks for looking. Yes, 1843. When I said I couldn't find a marriage I meant one for George and Hannah. Sorry, I should have given you this marriage:

James ARRAL Spouse: Jean BUTCHARD
Marriage: 16 Jun 1843 Abbey (Paisley), Renfrew,

I knew the marriage was after the 1841 census that's why I was hoping to find Jean/Jane in 1841 with her parents.

The entry in the Paupers Index for James and his family does not have as much detail as the entry for his sister Janet who married Samuel ANGEL. This time it lists the 4 parents in 1857 but does not say if they are still living.

I looked for a 2nd marriage for Christina and it looks as though I have found the marriage of a daughter:

Christina BUTCHARD Spouse: James COCKBURN
Marriage: 4 Jun 1853 Low Church, Paisley, Renfrew
Husband Age at Marriage: 45
Wife Age at Marriage: 33

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

From the entry in the Paupers Index I got Jean's parents as 'Geo BUTCHARD and Christina HANNA'. Now I have actually searched for Jean's entry and I've found it but not in Renfrew:

Jean BUTCHART c. 22 Aug 1824 Polmont, Stirling
Father: George BUTCHART Mother: Christian HANNAH

Oh, it looks like siblings, Janet born in Cadder, Lanark in 1831 and Agnes in 1834 in Old Kilpatrick, Dunbarton !!

Regards,

Dave

Hello crankypants,

Would you like a week off? :D

I'm not guessing what name they are hiding under.

The family should be something like this:

George b. ?
Hannah b. ?
Christina b. abt 1820
Jean/Jane b. abt 1824 Eklig ?, Renfrew ? possibly not Renfrew
Janet b. 1831 Cadder, Lanark
Agnes b. 1834 Old Kilpatrick, Dunbarton

Regards,

Dave
