Cowra Free Press (NSW : 1911 - 1937) - Tue 8 May 1923 Page 2
Sixty Years In Cowra District.
ANOTHER HARDY PIONEER GONE
THE LATE MR. CHAS. WHITTAKER, Senr.
...
The late Mr. Whittaker, who was born at Richmond, on the Hawkesbury River, on April 14th, 1846, was a son of the late Mr. Peter Whittaker. ...

Charles was born before his parents married.

Seems Peter was also born before his parents married so descendants are not actually Whittaker although they carry that name.
