Have unable to find this couple in 1881, tried all various combinations but to no avail.

Daniel Kite (also used George)
born 1848 this is correct but year of birth on other census abt 1855
born Sheerness Kent

Elizabeth Ann Kite year of birth abt 1859/60 this is correct (her year of birth in 1891 is abt 1863)
born Cardiff

Last whereabouts prior to 1881 was in 1879 Wimbledon when they married.

what occupation did Daniel give on his marriage cert please

His occ was domestic servant in 1879, 1882 a butcher, his occupations changed but he eventually ended up as a licensed victualler. I have him on all the other census (his not on the 1861 though the family seems to be missing as well). He did use the name George altered his age by 5/6yrs and could be any where between Battersea, Lambeth, Stepney and Cardiff. I've tried everything. I really think that he is on the census but the 1881 has many errors and I think he is one of them.

I take it you meant on your g/dads marriage cert his fathers name was given as George Daniel? I presume you have tried looking under this different surname as well..

I've looked for him without the surname and various combinations. I never found any change in this surname, only mistranscriptions of it. When my grandad changed his name he dropped the name Kite used his middle name as his 1st and his 1st name as his last (Bassett to Bass), he had been a bit of a naughty boy.

makes you wonder though why they cant be found, when was the first child born Julie?

As far as I know 1882 Lambeth (Harcourt). If there were any born before him then they didnt survive, the twins born and died 1887 and my grandad born 1889, 1891 Elizabeth (gt gran) died Cardiff. Theres quite a few Kite births, so theres no area to pinpoint if any belonged to them. So I'll take it that Harcourt was the 1st born
