There are two versions of Windows 10, 32 bit and 64 bit. My husband suggests that if you have the 64 bit version of Windows 10 it is possible that FTM 2009 is 16 bit which would be totally incompatible. Even a 32 bit version of FTM may be incompatible with 64 bit Windows 10.

Check out the compatibility mode in Windows 10, it may help.

(I am running Windows 7, 64 bit, and can't use my old Grafix software which was 16 bit, most 32 bit programs will run on a 64 bit system but some are incompatible)

Hope this helps
Elaine

Thanks Peter,
It installs about one third then come up with a box saying,
"Family Tree Maker 2009 Error
X Data error (Cyclic redundancy check)
OK"

Which means nothing to me.
I am new to Windows 10.
Right clicking on EXE file did not bring up properties.
On clicking "Ok" a box comes up saying:
"Feature transfer error
Error - 1603 Fatal error during installation.
Consult Windows installer help (Msi.chm) or MSDN for more information.
Ok.

The error (Cyclic redundancy check) usually means that there is a problem reading that part of the file. Exe's have a built in check of the file's integrity. So either the file itself is corrupt or the media it is on has a fault and that the next 'segment' of the file to be processed can't be read.
