I have found my 4 x great grandfather's family in Manchester in1841 census. No sign of father of family - Captain Henry Sloan(e). Have searched most family history/military websites but can't find him. There are connections with Antrim in Ireland and maybe some kind of relation to Hans Sloan founder of British Museum although not direct to him. Any ideas of how to move forward please.

Hi

I am not sure - he must have been born around 1790ish. Some of his children were born in Ireland - Horace c1823 in Lisburn and some in England. Another son was born in Ireland in 1828 - he was also called Henry.

Henry's (Captain) was called Elizabeth and her and the family is in the 1841 census but no Henry. On Elizabeth's death certificate he is shown as a Lieutenant. Have searched British military records but can't find him.

Thanks for your help.
