There is a tree that suggests James d. in the workhouse in 1857, if they were both inmates it likely Catherine would be there in 1861, we know she is in 1871..

Have just checked the 1861 pauper's list and she isn't listed.. That said it was a commissioned listing; they would have to have been inmates for at least 5y to be included in the listing, i.e. by 1856 :rolleyes:

A6131 Ginger beer bottle, stoneware, Thomas Field, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, 1850-1860
Thomas Field learnt his trade in the 'Pottery Brick and Tile Manufacturer' in Barnet, Hertfordshire near London. He had been born in the same place in 1815 and moved to Sydney in 1842. He set up a pottery at the south end of George Street close to town near what is now Central Station which continued in business under his sons Thomas's death in 1880.
