Dave, you should get the marriage for Adam and Margaret. I see it is in Edinburgh and the Edinburgh OPR marriages can give a lot of extra information. You will prob get if Adam was in the army and Mgt's father's occupation.

I now have an image of the 1841 census and it is almost impossible to read.

I notice that there is a 'correction' on A... of Kelty to Kelly. ???

I believe I can see a horizontal stroke so it is a 't' so I don't agree it's Kelly.

Signature and qualification of informant - Cecilia Keltie, granddaughter, present. Death registered on 22 June 1861 at Alloa. Wm. D. Bruce, Registrar.

Daughter Margaret born abt 1782 - census has Pathhead.

So either a very late marriage or a different pair.

I'm sure it is Kelty. A loop in the l and a stroke on the t.
