Hello Thank you for the Census offer, Im wondering if you could help me with the Scottish Census!
I have a Thomas Goldie b abt 1866 Scotland - Lanarkshire
he married in 1888 in Plymouth his father, is also Thomas Goldie & his occupation is a Foreman at harbour works (1888 )

I know Thomas joined the Blackwatch when old enough, so I am just wondering if you could possibly find him on the 1871 + 1881 Census for me. (long shot)

I think his mother was martha but because I dont have his Birth Certificate I dont really know if this is his mother.
Thomas (1866) & Wife Emma had 2 children in Scotland James abt 1894 + in 1895 ish William. I have tried to locate these 2 children but because Im not a member of the Scotlands people im not sure where in Scotland they are born. Its said the Thomas (1866) went back to Scotland when the children where older leaving wife to sort them out.

This would be very much appreciated if you could locate him in Scotland for me.

Thank you very much
Lorraine.

Hi Rosa
You say that Eleanor Ritson was born in 1835 and also married in 1835 so obviously one of the dates is wrong. The only Eleanor Ritson I can find in the 1841 census is in Portland Street, Cockermouth, Workington. She is about 30 years old (not exact in the 1841 census) and lives with Ann Ritson aged 60 and Thos Hetherington aged 7.
I hope that helps you.
Regards
Brian

Hi John this is the info I managed to get for you

1841 census Commonside Gleadless Handsworth Yorkshire

John Thicket age 40
Mary Thicket 35
Sarah Thicket 10
Ann Thicket 8
Mary Thicket 6
Elizabeth Thicket 4
Harriet Thicket 2

The 1841 census doesn't give relationships or places of birth but one can assume these are the parents and children.

1851 census Hagg Houses Handsworth Yorkshire

John Thicket marr H 51 Ag Laborour b.Troway Derbyshire
Mary Thicket marr W 45 b.Baslow Derbyshire
Harriet Thicket D 11 b.Gleadless Yorks
Jane Thicket D 8 b.Gleadless
William Haylor marr son in law 21 b.Norton Derbyshire
Sarah Haylor marr daughter in law 20 b.Staveley Derbyshire
George Haylor grandson 2 b.Gleadless

Although this shows Sarah Haylor as John's daughter in law I wonder if she is in fact his daughter as George Haylor is his grandson

I cannot find this family in the 1861 census

1871 census South St Sheffield Park Sheffield Yorkshire

John Thicket Marr Head 71 Lab in coal yard b.Eckington Derbyshire
Mary Thicket Marr Wife 65 b.Baslow Derbyshire

1881 census Gleadless Handsworth Yorkshire

Mary Thicket Head Widow 75 b.Baslow Derbyshire
Isaac Plant Visitor 7 b.Handsworth Yorks

THESE PEOPLE LIVED NEXT DOOR (possible grandchildren ?)

John Thicket Head Marr 23 Coal miner b.Handsworth Yorks
Martha Thicket Wife Marr 21 b.Handsworth Yorks
Sarah Thicket Dau 4 b.Handsworth Yorks
Annie Thicket Dau 8 Months b.Handsworth Yorks

Unfortunately the only thing I found regarding Frederick Benjamin Hagen and Mary Ann Mitchell was that they were married in Chesterfield in the Mar quarter of 1910

I hope this is helpful to you

Kind Regards
Brian

HI Brian,

A very kind offer - thank you.

I am looking for Thomas Smyth in the 1901 Census in Northern Ireland. At that time his father, some siblings, and Uncle John were living in Macleary, Co. Londonderry - and other siblings were living in Derrydorragh and Drumcroon.

I am also looking for his Grandfather William who was born c. 1822 - if he was alive then. He is not to be confused with Thomas's brother William at Derrydorragh.

Best wishes,

Thomas Smyth
