Hi Brian , my name is Alex Wilson and I am looking for any information on the Scotish family of my greatgrandfathers, Richard Wilson ,born 1860 married to Margurite Garey in 1883 or 1884, they went to the United States in 1884, where they had 3 children: William, Mary, Margurite. William ,my grandfather eventually came to Peru in 1917.
I know that is not much information , but any information would be greatly apprecited.

Alex

Hi Alex
I'm afraid I can't find any information regarding Richard and Margurite. It might be worth trying to contact someone who has access to the full Ancestry web site so they can check the USA records as I only have the GB version

Brian

The Hagin family is of interest to me

Frederick Benjamin Hagin was actually born on 1 June 1888 in Eckington and registered as Frederick Benjamin Eaves - mother Emma Eaves formerly Jones father blank.

Emma Eaves nee Jones was my 2x gt grandmother.
She did not marry the presumed father Michael Hagin until 1916 but they were together stated as married on both the 1901 and 1911 censuses

Hi Carol
You may get better results if you started a new thread for your questions as this one is tagged onto other threads and tends to got missed.

I wondered why you think Michael Hagin was the father. On 1891 census Emma is with her Father in Law Ben Eaves and three children. I cannot find a marriage yet, but I would think she was married to one of Ben sons, who would be the father.

Thanks Dave

I added it here so that the original poster would pick up the link.

This family gets pretty messed up on the censuses. Emma is married to William Eaves and his father is also William Eaves (we have the cert that proves that). We also have Frederick Benjamin's birth certificate which shows father as a blank. On the 1901 census Frederick Benjamin is listed as an Agin and on 1911 as Hagin so we suspect that Michael Hagin is the father. Emma eventually marries him in 1916 but they have been living as man and wife since (at least) 1901

What we are hoping is that someone from the Hagin side can make sense of it all and confirm our detective work. As I said Emma the mother of Frederick Benjamin is my 2x gt grandmother through her daughter Martha with her 1st husband William Eaves

Hi Carol
I can't see your link to the original poster, but may I suggest you make another post, ie reply to this. Shortly after your name will turn green and you can then make Private Messages. You can then contact who you want to talk to, as the P.M will go into his email box. Once your name is green, click on the poster's name. A box comes up with send a P.M, click on this and youre away.

EDIT
You do not mention 1891 census, which I find interesting. Frederick, transcribed as Frank, is called Eaves. Was he from the Eaves/Jones union even though Michael is lodging with them. I note Emma's age is a bit out, but still a bit young to have had Martha. Martha is also named as Daughter, to Ben, not G.Daughter as are the other children.

Dave

Thanks for the advice. I am new to this site so am struggling with posting.

Emma Eaves is "losing years" on the 1891 census - she is actually b 1853.

We are sure that Martha is her daughter because we have the cert. Interestingly on the 1871 she is with her parents, shown as married, but no husband with her. In fact we have never found Emma and William Eaves together except on their marriage cert and Martha's birth cert.

Our conclusion on Ben Eaves is that he is a red herring - probably the same person as Ben Handy on the 1881 and possibly a relative on the Jones (Emma's family) side.

We know from the certs that none of these people could write sothe censuses rely upon the interpretation of the enumerator - and as you will have seen this whole family was very complex.
