I notice with the new NSW BMD index you don't get the Church Register Volume any more.

I also noticed with the marriage search you have to KNOW either the surname or the first given name or the middle name of the spouse.

The first is making you buy the copies of the old records from BMD rather than obtain the info by looking up films at various libraries when you know the Volume and the year and the #.

The second is all about reducing server load and damn who cares how difficult it makes it for those doing Family History.

Both of us.

It's bad enough for me to complain to my local member.

Designed by someone who tested it once to see it worked but didn't think about those who actually were to use it.

If they thought they would have users on the server for a short time then they will find me on 50x as long trying every possible given name for the spouse until I get a hit.

No, districts still missing.

Thanks gibbo.

That's curious. I went in the usual front door the other day and got taken to the new site.

This is the one I was looking for:

V1851429 37B/1851 BRISTOW JOHN - GRAY ELIZABETH MC

Yes, since about 3 pm yesterday the site returns no results and no error message. It has a notice that it will be off line 4 pm to 6 pm Sun 31st.
