The family are living in Grieve Street, Dunfermline in 1871/81/91. At no time is there a daughter Elizabeth with them.

Could this be the right family in 1881

60 James Street, Dunfermline
William Stewart 39 Slater
Jane Stewart 38 wife
David Stewart 12 son
Elizabeth Stewart dau 10
Jane Stewart dau 7
Mary W Stewart dau 4
William Stewart son 2
All born Dunfermline

She is the only Elizabeth Stewart born 1871 that I can find. She does not appear in 1891. Father William is still in James Street with new wife Eliza 39, son William 12, daughter Margaret 9, son James 7 and daughter Sarah 1.

That's my family, Emeltee. Elizabeth fits the naming pattern but no baptism in Batch: C114241 as per siblings.

Do I spend 6 credits or is it 12? Perhaps I need the birth and the death. The birth could be either Elizabeth and same for that death.

The 1877 death cannot be your Elizabeth as she is alive in the 1881 Census. However I can't find her after 1881 but I'll keep looking.

Thanks Emeltee.

Birth 1871 STEWART ELIZABETH F 424/1 421 Dunfermline Burgh
Just spent 6 credits. Daughter of Charles and Agnes. So no birth reg or baptism in IGI batch for mine.

Grieve Street.

Very strange. Searching for Elizabeth born 1869-1873 Dunfermline in the 1891 Census comes up with no results at all. Doing the same for 1901 Census brings up 101 results. Where were all these Elizabeths in 1891?

Sorry Dave, but I can't see Elizabeth after the 1881 Census.

Thanks Emeltee.

Rather curious. First five children, Janet, David, Catherine, Elizabeth, George fit the naming pattern if you omit Catherine. But there is a birth and baptism:

1870 STEWART CATHERINE F 424/1 239 Dunfermline Burgh

Catherine b. 21 June 1870 Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland
William STEWART & Jane HOGGAN
Batch: C114241

If 'Currie' becomes Elizabeth then one birth for an Elizabeth fits dau of Charles & Agnes.

The only children with William and Jane in 1871 are David and Elizabeth - no sign of a Catherine. Nor is there a death on Scotlandspeople.

Curious. Looks like I should get transcriptions from several places to see what matches.

1871
Registration District: Dunfermline Burgh
Civil Parish: Dunfermline Burgh
County: Fife
Address: Schooloud St
William Stewart Head 29 Slater Dunfermline
Jane Wife 31 Dunfermline
David son 2 Dunfermline
Currie? dau 9mo Dunfermline

Elizabeth fits naming pattern but no reg and a reg and baptism between David and George for a Catherine.

The version on fmp has the address as Schoolend Street and the daughter as Elizabeth - no sign of a Currie.

Unfortunately there is no image to look at to confirm what is written.

Yes, Ellie, a reg on SP and a baptism in FS for a Catherine. But Catherine does not fit. The naming pattern fits for the first 6 children if Catherine is replaced by Elizabeth. Elizabeth aged 10 in 1881 and no death for a Catherine.

It's as if the daughter was named Catherine but then became Elizabeth later on. Looking at the births they are about two years apart but squeezing an Elizabeth in is tight and does not fit the sequence for 9 children. No reg or baptism for an Elizabeth to that family.

The birth I paid for was Elizabeth - dau of Charles & Agnes.

Don't know how it can be Currie on one site and Elizabeth on another. If it was Elizth still does not look like Currie.

About 4 steps sideways off a main line so I probably won't get an image from SP of the 1871 census after spending 6 credits on a 50/50 birth.
