Several possible baptisms in England. No way of knowing his parents from info after his arrival.

Seems the convicts are not listed on a single vessel.

The Fortune, also known as La Fortune, was a 626 ton sailing ship built in Spain. she twice transported convicts from Britain to New South Wales.
1st convict voyage
Captain Henry Moore received a letter of marque on 7 January 1806. This authorized him to engage in offensive action against the French, not just defensive, should the opportunity arise.
Captain Moore sailed Fortune from England on 28 January 1806, with 260 male convicts. She arrived at Port Jackson on 27 July. Four male convicts died on the voyage. Fortune left Port Jackson on 19 August bound for China.

There should be two pardons - Conditional and one or several years later the Absolute. There is something odd about this. It says Conditional yet other sources have his Absolute pardon on 1 Dec 1809. A Conditional in May 1810 and then a marriage on 13 Dec 1810 while still on a CP is impossible.

DEATHS.
On the 18th instant, at Wollongong, after a short illness, CHARLES ALEXANDER ARMYTAGE, aged 54 years, eldest son of Mrs. G. Tompson, Clydesville, Surry Hills, and brother to the late George James Armytage, of Norwood, Petersham.


Having Derby is very handy since he was tried in Middlesex and there is a baptism in Middlesex.

Some records list the total number of convicts on the two vessels but the link I posted shows that he had to be on the Fortune, as per the record you found.

Yeah, there are one or two anomalies, he was originally given 14y

If there is any confusion over the original ship it may be because he was held on at least one 'Hulk'.

He wasn't received until March 1805 on this one..

The Alexander carried mainly female convicts and some male convicts who had wives and children with them.

5 June 1813 - Charles granted Power of Attorney to his wife Jane of Pitt Street, Sydney. She would oversee her husband’s affairs while he was absent from the Colony, in England. (Source: NSW Land Titles Office Old Register Book 5 page 233;No.1004)

12 August 1815 - Charles Armytage was listed as a passenger on the ship “Hebe”. The ship had just arrived in Sydney “from England, the last day of February, with a valuable & various investment”. (Source: “Sydney Gazette”, 12 August 1815)
