It looks as though Charles had died after Jan 1928 but not in 1928 roll.

I can't find his death or that of Ethel's after 1954.

Thanks Geoff.

Ethel in 1954 roll as Ethel C. I can't see her after that.

I'd say they were both living in Glenorchy, Tasmania in Jan 1928.

They all have different 'made up to dates' [usually on the title page] depending on state and year and change of boundaries. Sometimes two rolls in one year such as 1925 and 1977.

Not all title pages have been filmed which is a pity.

Thanks Geoff.

Only this one in ACI ??

Tilyard Charles Edward 1884? 10 Sep 1886 Age 2 Glenorchy Anglican Church TAS

A bit odd with no date. Perhaps a memorial and he didn't die in Tasmania.

No, a bit odd that the one you found is not in the index for ACI.

Looking as though he didn't die in Tas.

NAA has no record of a Charles Tilyard serving in WWI. Henry Claude and Harold Arthur.

MT1486/1 TILYARD/HAROLD ARTHUR Tilyard, Harold Arthur; age 19; born - Glenorchy Tas; address - Glenorchy Tas [occupation - labourer; includes notes on forged consent form]

No Charles Tilyard on name search for all records in NAA.

Yeah, may be he did die in France and that is a memorial rather than a burial. Quite common for places to have war memorials in UK, I guess the same in Oz/Tas.
